There is so much to do on and around Clear Lake in the summer that it would be impossible to list them all. From all types of boating, to fishing for walleye, yellow bass and Muskie, to swimming, skiing, wake boarding or just floating along in a canoe or on a raft, you’ll be able to laze away the days in pure enjoyment. The City of Clear Lake has activities planned every week of the summer for your entertainment. In addition, good restaurants abound and there is shopping available in Clear Lake, or close by Mason City.
Autumn on and around the Lake is the most beautiful time of year. The air turns a bit crisp, the fish bite a little better, and the hunting seasons are just around the corner. Now is the time to get that last boating in for the season, try your hand one more time at landing the Lake’s largest trophy, the Muskie, or just relax in front of the fire place and enjoy good food, good movies and great Football, or a book, if that is your choice.
The winters in Clear Lake can be formidable. As well, they can be exhilarating! Wake up early. Look out across the lake at the farm of ice houses, each looking to jig the biggest catch of the day. Walk down the steps onto the ice, climb aboard your snowmobile and race off for another day of fishing or pleasure. Perhaps you are here for the hunt rather than the fish? At the end of the day, relax with a hot shower, a warm fire, good friends and good food.
Perhaps spring is your time of year. Spring at Clear Lake is really when the Lake wakes up. The ice can be seen to shrink daily. Then the docks and the lifts start making their entrance. The bait shops are a buzz about the catches being made and the possibilities for the year. Flowers come to life and the world turns green about you. A hot brandy, a warm fire, and good conversation are the keys to worry free vacationing!
